Tokusatsu Tribute Art
Personal Work ·Hi Y'all,
Long year huh? I don't know about you, but I'm exhausted. I'm on week 5 of conventions, and while I get a three week break from them, it's more nerve-wracking to not have conventions than to have them. I mean think about it, 3 weeks of zero income? Most people die from that.
Anywho, here's a new print for the storefront once I get that site all squared away. I tend to make lots of pieces then forget to add them to the site as I go so now I have a backlog of items that need attending to. (Not like I get many online sales so it doesn't usually matter.) I think if people were buying online more often than not, I'd be more on top of it or at least fake caring about the online storefront haha.
That's also probably why I gave up harassing Jank Mats about getting my online print on demand page up. It's not like people were chomping at the bit to get the original pieces on mats like I'd hoped when I was advertising them on social media. Getting people to care about you online vs in person is like night and day. At least for me, some people just have that sort of look that makes people drawn to their work. I had an old friend that I've recently realized was probably not the best of friends in my life always tell me that I have to "trick" people in real life to think that the art is good and buy it. Spin a story, sell my personality, etc. since the art was boring and technically unsatisfying to look at compared to all the big name artists in the alley and I myself am more interesting than the work. Which is sort of a massive insult since I'm as boring a person as they come lmao.
Anyway, I decided it was time for a redraw of this tokusatsu piece since the last one was painted in 2022, which was the last year I hung out with the person mentioned above funny enough. I will say I think the current mentorship has helped with my compositions at least. Can't do much about my shaky hands and inconsistent line work, but at least it looks like someone who knew what they were doing painted this vs the previous design which I'll have underneath here somewhere if it fits the size requirements.
Hopefully I'll have this on the updated storefront soon, but I plan to do a big purge of prints that just aren't selling and are "dead weight" for me. Like I have some designs that couldn't even sell at Anime Expo and people will buy ANYTHING there. It'll hopefully feel refreshing to throw out all the "bad art" I couldn't trick people into buying haha.
Anyway, have fun and I'll see you in the next one,
Maeca
