“The Measure”
A personal piece exploring scale, presence, and the quiet tension between innocence and the unknown.
As with a lot of my work, this revolves around an encounter where something small and vulnerable is set against a much larger and mysterious presence, but not necessarily a benevolent one.
Visually, I drew inspiration from darker '80s fantasy films like The Dark Crystal and Legend, particularly the atmosphere and lighting of the unicorn scenes from the latter.
I put a lot of focus on mood and lighting, using glow and reflections to pull the viewer into the scene and hint at a world that feels both enchanting and slightly unsettling.
