Pride of Yorkshire Lion Murals

A few weeks ago the Pride of Yorkshire sculpture trail was finally unleashed on the streets of Sheffield and South Yorkshire. I created 2 artworks King of the Jungle and Queen of the Jungle, inspired by (and now on display in) the Winter Gardens and Botanical Gardens in Sheffield. My lion design combines elements of the iconic Winter Gardens greenhouse with lots of African jungle animals including giraffe, zebras, snakes, parrots and of course lions! The lioness combines the glasshouse, benches and fountain of the Botanical Gardens with South American wildlife including capybaras, frogs, anteaters and a panther!
I painted both the designs during the Winter alongside over 100 other artists in a painting space in Sheffield. You can download an app and go on a lion spotting art trail all over South Yorkshire till early September. The designs will then be auctioned off to raise funds for Sheffield children's hospital.

I'm a freelance Illustrator from London, currently living in Sheffield. Over the last 20 years, I have worked on a diverse range of projects including Facebook advertising for Volkswagen, card designs for Paperchase and a huge painting on a life sized model of a baby elephant for the Elephant Family charity.
My style is graphic, colourful, nostalgic and quirky. I find inspiration almost anywhere; from the natural world and my urban surroundings in London, to stylish Art Deco architecture, psychedelic posters of the 60's and the wallpapers of William Morris. My illustrations are created using a variety of techniques including drawing, paper collage, paint and Photoshop, whilst maintaining the same eye catching and uplifting feel in all my designs.
