My 2019 Annual Christmas Card

Every year I design a Christmas card to send to family, friends and clients. I think this is year 20 and every year I say to myself that I'll start my Christmas card design early, like in July, but it always comes down to the wire because of other assignments and a touch of the dreaded procrastination.I try to reflect in the card a major event or theme of that year to share. This year, we spent a lot of time in Fairbanks, Alaska. We weren't there in the midst of sub zero arctic temperatures or the long dark days, but we did visit Santa Claus' House in North Pole, Alaska, and we drank a lot of North Pole Coffee! I had never designed Rankin/Bass inspired characters before and this year seemed like a good fit to try it.Here's wishing everyone a prosperous and adventurous New Year!

I grew up in the Midwest and am a graduate of The Columbus College of Art and Design. I spent many years working in the video game industry in Seattle and survived the infamous dot com bubble-and burst. After that, I became a freelance illustrator. In 2006, I won the redesign of Highlights Magazine's Goofus and Gallant and it remains an honor to be a part of their over 60 years in print. My studio overlooks the Snoqualmie Valley in western Washington state and I share it with two happy cats, Franklin and Madison. Say hello! I'm looking forward to working with you. :)
